SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER

We are currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer to work in Atlanta, GA and support roll-out of new applications in the Americas. You will be a major participant in the design, development, testing, and deployment of ROAMWORKS’ software products, and provide input into our product strategy. Ability to  travel up to 40% of your time to support customer applications and deployments will be required. Travel to Bonn and Dubai may be required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Design, code, test, and deploy ROAM applications for specific customers
- Acquire knowledge of ROAM platform and required technologies on a product-by-product basis to ensure timely delivery of quality software
- Participate in analysis of customer needs; produce mappings to product features and requirements
- Produce work estimates as requested; refine estimate skills over time to ensure accurate forecasting for software product delivery dates
- Collaborate with Bonn and Dubai on an as-needed basis with technology management.

REQUIRED SKILLS

- Deep knowledge of object oriented languages and methodologies and concepts (Smalltalk, Scala, Java, dot.net or C++, etc.)
- Knowledge of and experience in web-applications (dhtml, JavaScript, xml)
- Knowledge of client/server and web applications
- Knowledge of networking and communications concepts (SMTP, TCP/IP, Mail, Internet protocols, etc)
- Knowledge of testing and QA
- Knowledge of relational database concepts (SQL-Server, Oracle,)
- Knowledge of UML or other modeling experience
- Proficient in both written and spoken English

ADDITIONAL VALUED SKILLS

- Knowledge of system specification, conceptualization
- Knowledge of technical documentation
- Background developing enterprise and scalable solutions

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

- Requires B.S. or B.A. in a technical field
- Minimum 4 years of software engineering experience required

SENIOR HARDWARE/COMMUNICATIONS ENGINEER

We are currently seeking a Senior Hardware/Communications Engineer to work in Atlanta, GA and support rollout of new applications in the Americas. You will be a major participant in the development, testing, and deployment of ROAMWORKS‘ hardware devices and interfaces. You will also have significant input into our hardware strategy and vendor choices. Ability to travel up to 40% of your time to support customer applications and deployments will be required. Travel to Bonn and Dubai may be required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Be able to understand client requirement and propose appropriate hardware solutions from existing solutions or custom developed hardware
- Design, integrate, test, and deploy ROAM wireless remote devices for specific customers
- Acquire knowledge of ROAM platform and required technologies on a product-by-product basis to ensure timely delivery of customer solutions
- Produce work estimates as requested
- Collaborate with Bonn and Dubai on an as-needed basis with technology management
- Installations and trouble shooting of customer solutions
- Work with Software Engineers to coordinate delivery of solutions for customers.

REQUIRED SKILLS

- Knowledge of basic electronics
- Knowledge of wireless communications and networking
- Knowledge of GSM, and satellite networks (Orbcomm, Iridium, Inmarsat)
- Knowledge of antenna design and functionality
- Basic knowledge of scripting and programming of remote devices (AT command, etc)
- Ability to design trip/switch circuits
- Knowledge of Windows OS environment
- Ability to communicate at commercial and technical levels
- Willing to travel
